There is nothing more humbling and gratifying than when someone (or in this case many someones) you love and respect offers you the red carpet treatment. That’s exactly how I feel since the Southeastern Council of Foundations (SECF) has graciously allowed me to hold my official launch event for Other People’s Money at their 2014 Annual Meeting in New Orleans. It’s kind of like bringing your fiancee home to meet your entire extended family — all 600+ of them!
If you’re not familiar with SECF, they are, in my opinion, one of the most active and dynamic regional associations of foundations in the country. They’re certainly the largest in terms of territory covered. I’ll be seeing old friends and making new ones from 11 different states. And they’ve helped nurture my understanding of the intricacies and intimacies of the foundation world for more than 20 years.
If you’re going to the SECF Annual Meeting, be sure and pre-order your copy of Other People’s Money in advance from Octavia Books. They’re the premier independent bookseller in New Orleans and super nice folks! They’ll bring your copy (signed if you wish) directly to the conference hotel for pick up – no shipping fees! And you’ll have something fun to read on your way home.
